"Monday was a day where I learned what 'before the accident' really means," Nev wrote, reflecting on how quickly life can change. "And Monday gave weight to just how lucky I was to have Sunday. It’s true what they say — life can change in an instant."

So, what exactly happened? According to Nev, he was on his way to pick up his son from school when his life took a sudden turn. While riding his bike, he was struck by a truck, leaving him injured and alone at the scene.

The impact was severe, resulting in two stable fractures in his neck at the C5 and C6 vertebrae. In a sobering moment, Nev revealed that there was a time when doctors weren’t sure if he’d regain full use of his hands.

"I broke my neck. C5 and C6 to be exact. Stable fractures. I’m not paralyzed," he shared, expressing his relief. "My hands were a question mark there for a minute, but the human body is incredible, and so are HUMANS."

Nev didn’t hold back in showing his appreciation for the healthcare professionals who played a crucial role in his recovery. He extended heartfelt thanks to the team at Southampton Emergency Room and the Stony Brook ICU, where he received life-saving care.

In a candid moment, Nev acknowledged just how fortunate he is, noting that many people with similar injuries are not as lucky. "I’m lucky to be here, alive, standing, and hugging my family, projected to make a full recovery. And I’m really starting to understand the meaning of gratitude. For the big and little things before the accident, and now everything moving forward."

Accompanying his post were touching photos and videos that captured the love and support of his family during this challenging time. In the images, Nev's wife, Laura Perlongo, and their three children are seen hugging him in the hospital, a poignant reminder of what truly matters.

Fans quickly rallied around Nev, flooding his comment section with well-wishes and personal stories. One follower wrote, "You are so fortunate to not be paralyzed. You will still have a long recovery road, but you’ll get there! Sadly, my brother was hit by a car and broke his neck at C2 and wasn’t as fortunate; he’s paralyzed from the neck down. It’s been a long, long 18 months." Another shared, "My stepdad broke his C5 and C6 too; he was immediately paralyzed and later passed away in the hospital. Grateful you got a second chance!"

As Nev continues to heal, there's no doubt that this experience has given him a fresh perspective on life. With his resilience and determination, we have a feeling he'll be back to running marathons in no time.

In the meantime, his story serves as a powerful reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment with those we love.
