Izzy Roland’s Heartfelt Ghost Story: How to Support Her Film D(e)AD

Izzy Roland’s latest project is a personal one, blending comedy and emotion into a unique film titled D(e)AD. What started as a pandemic endeavor has grown into a full-fledged family affair, with Izzy, her mom Claudia, and her husband Brennan Lee Mulligan all deeply involved in its creation. Now, Izzy is turning to Kickstarter to fund the post-production phase of the film, and here's why you might want to get involved.

A Family Affair with a Ghostly Twist

D(e)AD is a comedic ghost story that explores the themes of loss and familial bonds through the lens of a young woman, Tillie, played by Izzy herself. The film features a mix of professional actors and family members, including Brennan Lee Mulligan, Vic Michaelis, Claudia Lonow, and Jonathan Schmock.

Izzy and Claudia, who both serve as executive producers, have navigated the complex emotions tied to creating a film centered around the death of Izzy’s father and Claudia’s late husband. Reflecting on the process, Izzy admitted, “It felt like this is a cool idea when we were in pre-production, and then when we were in actual production, it was like, ‘Oh, what have we done?’” Despite the emotional challenges, the film has become a significant project for the family, blending their personal experiences with their creative talents.

Crowdfunding and Future Plans

The film’s production was self-funded by Izzy, her mom, her stepfather, and her husband. Now, Izzy is seeking support through Kickstarter to complete post-production. The crowdfunding campaign aims to help cover the costs of finishing the film and preparing it for distribution.

For those interested in seeing the film, the Kickstarter campaign offers a chance to support its completion directly. Izzy and her family believe that this approach is the future of entertainment, allowing fans to contribute to projects they’re passionate about.

Will D(e)AD Stream on Dropout?

Although Izzy and Brennan have a history of working together on creative projects, including their improv special on Dropout, D(e)AD isn’t currently planned for streaming on the platform. Instead, the film will go through the traditional route of film festivals to seek distribution. Izzy remains hopeful that the film will find a suitable home and potentially make its way to streaming services in the future.

To help fund the movie’s launch, Izzy and the cast will host an improv show on August 17. This event will feature performances by Brennan, Vic, Rekha Shankar, Katie Marovitch, Angela Giarratana, Paraloubis, and other surprise guests. It’s a fun way for fans to support the project while enjoying some live entertainment.
