Who Is Jasveen Sangha, the "Ketamine Queen"? The Connection to Matthew Perry's Fatal Overdose

The tragic death of Matthew Perry, known for his role as Chandler Bing on Friends, has led to a series of arrests and federal charges involving a complex network of individuals accused of contributing to his overdose. One of the most striking names among those charged is Jasveen Sangha, infamously known as the "Ketamine Queen." Here’s what we know about her and the role she allegedly played in this heartbreaking case.

The Allegations Against Jasveen Sangha

Jasveen Sangha, 41, has been identified as a key figure in the distribution of the ketamine that led to Matthew Perry's fatal overdose in October 2023. According to federal officials, Sangha was implicated in selling the fatal dose of ketamine to Perry. Her home, which was reportedly searched by authorities, was described as resembling a "drug-selling emporium" with an array of drugs including ketamine, meth pills, cocaine, Xanax, and other paraphernalia.

Attorney Martin Estrada revealed at a press conference that Sangha had a troubling history. In 2019, she allegedly sold ketamine to another individual who died the same day. Despite being informed of the death and its cause, Sangha continued her drug distribution activities, which, according to the indictment, eventually led to Perry’s death.

The Network and the Investigation

The indictment alleges that Perry initially obtained ketamine from two doctors before turning to Sangha for a cheaper supply. Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry’s live-in assistant, is accused of administering the dose that proved fatal. The charges against Sangha and others reveal a broad underground network involved in distributing large quantities of ketamine. This network included medical professionals, intermediaries, and key drug suppliers like Sangha.

Estrada criticized the defendants for their apparent disregard for Perry’s well-being, emphasizing that their focus was on profit rather than the risks posed by their actions. “They knew what they were doing was wrong; they knew they were risking great danger to Mr. Perry,” Estrada said. “But they did it anyway. In the end, these defendants were more interested in profiting off Mr. Perry than caring for his well-being.”

Jasveen Sangha’s Public Profile

Before her name became associated with this scandal, Sangha had a relatively low public profile. However, some images of her from a December 2022 event have surfaced online. She was photographed at a book signing and cocktail party for Make S#!+ Happen, a publication by Davis Factor, the great-grandson of cosmetics icon Max Factor. Despite these glimpses into her public life, the recent charges have cast a dark shadow over her previous appearances.

The Broader Impact

Perry's struggle with substance abuse was well-documented, particularly in his 2022 memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing. He openly discussed his addiction to painkillers following a jet ski accident and his long-standing issues with alcohol. His death has highlighted the dangerous world of illicit drug distribution and the individuals who profit from the vulnerabilities of those struggling with addiction.

As the legal proceedings continue, the case serves as a grim reminder of the devastating impact of drug addiction and the lengths to which some individuals will go to exploit it. The charges against Jasveen Sangha and her associates underscore the urgent need for awareness and action to combat the illegal drug trade and support those battling addiction.
